Spotted this amazing little note on this cement chair in a middle class society and thought how Mumbaiya it was:)One chair in the simple housing complex, lined with small shops. On it, this note: `Donated by so-and-so. Only for Members.' What happens, I wondered, if anybody who is not a member sits on it? And I wondered what had provoked the donor to make that point -- an uninvited congregation of outsiders? Or is it some panga (Mumbaiya, for squabble or tussle) with the shop-owners? Who can guess. In any case, it was enough to warrant immortality, along with the donor's name:)
